Winpack
What's Winpack ?
Winpack is the software I put together when I have to use Windows. It's
basically a compressed file with lots of useful binaries. If you are a
Unix user you will at home.

Here's the list of what's included in Winpack
- BIND 9.4.1-P1, it includes dig for DNS troubleshooting
- CDex 1.51, a CD ripping software
- eblook 1.6.1 a dictionary viewer
- Emacs 23.2.1, a text editor
- Gif library 4.1
- GPG 1.4.7, encryption software
- Jpeg library 6b
- Kakasi 2.3.4 a kanji to kana converter
- MSYS/MingW snapshot of 16/12/2010
- Mercurial 1.7.2, a source control system
- Microsoft Resource Kit, tools which include robocopy
- Mplayer 4.2.5, good to listen to music (console only)
- PNG library 1.2.37
- PuTTY 0.60, terminal emulator and ssh
- SysInternals tools, it includes junction to make symbolic link
- Tiff library 3.8.2
- aspell 0.50.3, spell checker with french and English dictionaries
- vim version 7.3, another fine text editor
- w3m 0.5.1, a console browser, works well with emacs
Installation
Download the latest version and unpack
the zip file. If you are a console junky like myself you can use
7za in a dos prompt.
7za x winpack.7z
Customize the file called winpack/bin/ivan-nt.bat to your
taste. Launch it from you command prompt and you should have all the
tools at your disposition.
